Gloss Printed vs UV Printed Plates

GLOSS PRINTED PLATES

Gloss Printed Logo Plates

Our gloss printed plates produce an ultra-vibrant and superior glossy finish, allowing you to create amazing designs in awesome colours!

This product is water-resistant but is not UV-stable and may eventually fade with constant UV exposure. If UV-stability is not a necessity for you, then this is a great quality product that you can enjoy at a more budget-friendly price.

PROS: Produces amazing vibrant colours with a high gloss, shiny finish, is water resistant and has a higher scratch resistance (compared to UV printed plates). It is much faster and more cost-effective to print, resulting in a lower price point.

CONS: Not UV resistant and may eventually fade with constant UV exposure. Due to the thinner translucent ink, some colours may look different in direct sunlight (ie. black may look dark purple or reddish). Can be difficult to photograph in bright areas due to the glossy reflection.

RECOMMENDED USE:

Best for indoor use or shaded areas (away from UV exposure) or short-term outdoor use, such as car detailing photos. For best photography results, we recommend using our UV Printed products or photograph your plates in the shade or early morning/late afternoon to avoid hotspots and sun glare.

UV PRINTED PLATES

UV Printed Logo Plates

We use premium UV light-cured inks to print our UV-printed products. The amazing benefit of UV ink is that it can be printed on just about anything! It is UV resistant for up to 2-5 years (varying between colours).

Our UV printer prints multiple layers of thick UV-resistant ink which is cured by UV light to produce a premium satin/matt finish that is UV and scratch-resistant.

PROS: Great colours, premium satin finish, can print onto a variety of different substrates including acrylic, wood, metal and more. It is water and UV-resistant. A better choice for photography due to less light reflection.

CONS: Produces slightly darker colours due to the heavy ink (compared to the gloss printed plates). Ink is easier to damage (compared to gloss printed plates). Takes longer and costs more to print, resulting in a higher price point.

RECOMMENDED USE:

Great for indoor or outdoor use and can be exposed to the outdoor elements. A better choice for photoshoots due to the less reflective/satin finish.
